In February, 2007, the church suffered a fire which caused serious damage to the foundation of the sanctuary and resulted in Zion being out of their building for a year and three months. However, Zion returned to their facility in March 2008, and the sanctuary was restored and remodeled.

In January 2013, Pastor Hill organized the Spirit of Zion Fellowship Church in the San Fernando Valley, which is a satellite ministry of the Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles, CA.
